Oregon Tax ExtensionPublished:
The income tax returns for residents of the Beaver State are due by April 15.
However, if you need more time to file, the state of Oregon will grant you a six-month tax extension. Remember that this is not an extension of time to pay, and any state income tax due must still be paid by the original filing deadline (April 15th).
If you have a valid Federal tax extension (IRS Tax Form 4868), it will be recognized by the Oregon Department of Revenue and you do not need to file a separate state tax extension request.
However, if you need to make a state tax payment, or you did not request a Federal extension, you will need to complete Oregon Tax Form 40-EXT (Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File Oregon Individual Income Tax Return).
Form 40-EXT must be filed by April 15th in order to avoid penalties and interest charges. Remember that you should only use Form 40-EXT if you do not have a Federal tax extension and/or you owe Oregon tax.
Mail Form 40-EXT (with payment, if applicable) to the following address:
Extension Clerk, Oregon Department of Revenue, PO Box 14950, Salem, Oregon 97309-0950
