How to file tax extensions in California

If you were approved for a federal income tax extension, the Golden State will grant you a six-month state tax extension.

However, If you need to make a tax payment or you did not request a federal tax extension, then you have to submit California Tax Form FTB 3519 by the original filing deadline in order to receive a state tax extension.

Mail Form FTB 3519 to:
Franchise Tax Board, PO Box 942867, Sacramento, CA  94267-0008
