Ohio Tax ExtensionPublicado:
The income tax returns for residents of the Buckeye State are due by April 15 (for calendar year filers).
However, if you need more time to file your return, you can request a state tax extension — but first you must qualify for a Federal tax extension (IRS Tax Form 4868).
The state of Ohio does not have its own tax extension application form, but it does recognize Federal tax extensions. Make sure to include a copy of your Form 4868 with your Ohio tax return when you file.
Remember that a tax extension does not mean you get an extension of time to pay. Any state income tax owed must still be paid by the original due date of your return (typically April 15th) or else penalties and interest charges will accrue.
You can make a state tax payment using Ohio Tax Form IT-40P (Income Tax Payment Voucher). Note that this voucher should only be used separately and is not meant to be sent with your tax return.
Mail Form IT-40P with payment to the following address:
Ohio Department of Taxation, PO Box 182131, Columbus, Ohio 43218-2131
