When Will I Get My Tax Refund? [Video]

Probably the most common question asked during tax season is ‘When will I get my tax refund?’ Now that you’ve filed your taxes, know that more than 9 out of 10 refunds are issued in less than 21 days.
Most people aren’t aware that you can track the status of your refund using the Where’s My Refund Tool in the IRS2GO mobile app or directly from the IRS website. You can begin checking on the status of your return within 24 hours of receiving your E-file or 4 weeks after you mail your paper return. All you need to check on your return is a copy of the tax return you filed.
This tool will give you updates as your tax return and refund move through the 3 steps in the refund process. They are:
1. Return Received
2. Refund Approved
3. Refund Sent
The system is updated every 24 hours usually over night, so there is no need to check for updates more than once per day.
Issues that can slow down a refund include errors on a tax return and returns identified for addition IRS review.
