Texas Tax Free Weekend 2022

When is tax free weekend in Texas?

This year, Texas’s tax free weekend goes from Friday, August 5 to 11:59pm on Sunday, August 7. During this sales tax holiday, taxes are exempt on certain items, like clothes and school supplies (so long as each item is sold for 100$). This allows parents to save money when purchasing essential supplies for the new school year.

Does Texas Tax-Free weekend include online purchases?

Yes! Purchases of qualifying items made online during the tax free weekend are also tax exempt, even if they don’t arrive until later. This means that if you order qualifying items before midnight on August 7, your purchase will be tax free. Orders over phone, by mail, and by any other means are also tax exempt.

Shipping, handling, and delivery charges are all considered as part of the sales price, so tax does not apply to them either. However, if you order a clothing or school supply item, and the sales price is over 100$ (including shipping and delivery), then the item is no longer tax exempt.
