Minnesota Tax Extension
Published:
Oofta! The income tax returns for residents of the Gopher State are due by April 15 (for calendar year taxpayers).
However, if you can't meet the April deadline, the state of Minnesota will grant you a six-month extension of time to file, as long as you pay your state income tax by the original filing due date (April 15). Looks like even when it comes to taxes, this state is "Minnesota nice."
A Minnesota tax extension means you will have until Oct. 15 to file your state tax return.
Use Minnesota Tax Form M13 (Income Tax Extension Payment) to pay your state tax liability, if you have any. Make sure you include payment with Form M13 and file it by April 15. Remember that at least 90 percent of your Minnesota tax liability must be paid in order to avoid penalties and interest charges.
Mail Form M13 to the following address:
Minnesota Revenue, P.O. Box 64058, St. Paul, Minnesota 55164-0058
