2011 Individual income tax rates

These are the U.S. tax rates for individuals for the 2011 tax year. There are six income tax brackets for each of the four filing statuses. Remember that 2011 tax returns are due by Tuesday April 17, 2012 (because April 15th is a Sunday and that Monday is a federal holiday).

 

Single

[IRS Tax Rate Schedule X]

• If your taxable income is over $0 but not over $8,500, the tax is 10% of the amount over $0.

• If your taxable income is over $8,500 but not over $34,500, the tax is $850.00 plus 15% of the amount over $8,500.

• If your taxable income is over $34,500 but not over $83,600, the tax is $4,750.00 plus 25% of the amount over $34,500.

• If your taxable income is over $83,600 but not over $174,400, the tax is $17,025.00 plus 28% of the amount over $83,600.

• If your taxable income is over $174,400 but not over $379,150, the tax is $42,449.00 plus 33% of the amount over $174,400.

• If your taxable income is over $379,150, the tax is $110,016.50 plus 35% of the amount over $379,150.

Married Filing Jointly or Qualifying Widow/Widower

• If your taxable income is over $0 but not over $17,000, the tax is 10% of the amount over $0.

• If your taxable income is over $17,000 but not over $69,000, the tax is $1,700.00 plus 15% of the amount over $69,000.

• If your taxable income is over $69,000 but not over $139,350, the tax is $9,500.00 plus 25% of the amount over $69,000.

• If your taxable income is over $139,350 but not over $212,300, the tax is $27,087.50 plus 28% of the amount over $139,350.

• If your taxable income is over $212,300 but not over $379,150, the tax is $47,513.50 plus 33% of the amount over $212,300.

• If your taxable income is over $379,150, the tax is $102,574.00 plus 35% of the amount over $379,150.

Married Filing Separately

• If your taxable income is over $0 but not over $8,500, the tax is 10% of the amount over $0.

• If your taxable income is over $8,500 but not over $34,500, the tax is $850.00 plus 15% of the amount over $8,500.

• If your taxable income is over $34,500 but not over $69,675, the tax is $4,750.00 plus 25% of the amount over $34,500.

• If your taxable income is over $69,675 but not over $106,150, the tax is $13,543.75 plus 28% of the amount over $69,675.

• If your taxable income is over $106,150 but not over $189,575, the tax is $23,756.75 plus 33% of the amount over $106,150.

• If your taxable income is over $189,575, the tax is $51,287.00 plus 35% of the amount over $189,575.

Head of Household

[IRS Tax Rate Schedule Z]

• If your taxable income is over $0 but not over $12,150, the tax is 10% of the amount over $0.

• If your taxable income is over $12,150 but not over $46,250, the tax is $1,215.00 plus 15% of the amount over $12,150.

• If your taxable income is over $46,250 but not over $119,400, the tax is $6,330.00 plus 25% of the amount over $46,250.

• If your taxable income is over $119,400 but not over $193,350, the tax is $24,617.50 plus 28% of the amount over $119,400.

• If your taxable income is over $193,350 but not over $379,150, the tax is $45,323.50 plus 33% of the amount over $193,350.

• If your taxable income is over $379,150, the tax is $106,637.50 plus 35% of the amount over $379,150.
