Former IRS Official Sought to Hide Information from Congress

On Wednesday, Congressional Republicans claimed that new emails reveal the former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official, Lois Lerner, was deliberately seeking to conceal information from Congress. Lerner, the former Director of Exempt Organizations, has been under fire for the mistreatment of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, released the email exchange showing Lerner asking a colleague if Congress can search messages sent through the IRS' internal system. The communications also show that Lerner has been telling colleagues to be careful about what they say in their emails.
